Location and infrastructure
VE1HR is located in the Nova Scotia Integrated Mobile Radio System building on MacLellan's Mountain in Pictou County, 229 metres above sea level.
The facility is owned by the Government of Nova Scotia and is equipped with generator backup power.
VHF voice and linking
The VHF voice system uses an Arcom RC-210 controller and a Motorola MSR2000 repeater transmitting 30 watts on 146.760 MHz with a negative offset.
A switchable link provides voice connectivity to much of the Maritime Provinces through the MAVCOM Link System.
Packet radio
The VHF packet LAN operates as VE1HR-1 on 147.540 MHz.
It connects to the backbone network through VE1HR on 145.010 MHz.
Antennas and tower
The VHF equipment feeds the provincial grid antennas at the top of a 73-metre tower. These antennas are approximately 302 metres above sea level.
The UHF link radios feed two UHF beam antennas, installed at heights of 25 and 43 metres on the tower.
